Check This Out

The past two weeks I have listened to sermons by Frances Chan. He is the pastor at Cornerstone Community Church in California. His first sermon focused on being a lukewarm Christian. I was really convicted and realized that I need live more for God and make things less about me. The challenge now is actually doing something about it. I am not sure what direction that might be but I am praying for God to show me the way. I want to be on fire for Him and live according to His plan.

You can download his sermons and videos for free on iTunes. Check out "Lukewarm and Lovin' It!" and also "Slavery can be Fun". Let me know your thoughts if you listen to these.

I also wanted to pass along a great album I have been listening to the past few months. Pick up Good Monster from Jars of Clay and let me know what you think.

Camping

What a great weekend I had hanging out with the crew in Moscow Texas. The weather came through for a nice night. Winston's land is an excellent campsite. I look forward to spending more nights out on the hill. I will say that the most important part of camping is the fire, and we had a BIG ONE!

Late Night - Chris Knight

I have not posted to this site in a long time. I am up late tonight listening to some great music. If you are looking for a great song writer check out Chris Knight. His ability to tell a story with music is unmatched. Check out this video to see him performing a song from his recent album.

New Service

The new contemporary service was awesome on Sunday. The music was great and provided a wonderful worship experience. The gym was completely full and they had to add more chairs. I think the service will continue grow and be an execellent opportunity to reach out to those who are wanting a different worship experience. The most important part is that the service is completely focused on Christ. Regardless if like a full band or a large choir, Christ must be the center of attention for any service to succeed.

Find your spot...

Today was my first Wednesday teachers meeting. This is a weekly meeting for all teachers that are teaching 6 – 12 grade Sunday school. The time is spent going over the week’s lesson and upcoming events. I was surprised how few people it took to fill all the teaching positions. There were around 50-60 people, which is not very many when you consider that there are over 2000 people on campus each Sunday. What I am trying to say is that the Church should not struggle each year trying to find people to serve in different roles. There are so many things you can do to help out. Some of these roles are only once a month but really help out in meeting the needs. Just take the step to volunteer for something new….I think you will enjoy it.

See ya

I love the Heat!

There is nothing like mowing the yard after a rain. I just started the yard today and then it started raining for about 20 minutes. Then the sun came out. It was HOT and HUMID. Thats the great thing about Houston, Texas. You don't need a sauna becuase you just have to walk outside. By the time I was finished everything was dry liked it had not even rained.

I have been using my new gym membership for a week. I am really enjoying my workout. I may have decreased my age from 40 to 39. I have been trying to get D-Ham to join but he is sitting on the fence. Gotta Run....

Live It

Today I was reminded about the importance of telling your loved ones that you care about them. Today was the anniversery of the death of my friends father. He passed away about 6 years ago. I do not know what it feels like to lose someone so close to you at a young age. Each day is prescious so live it that way. Take the extra time to hang out with those around you. Make a phone call that only takes 5 minutes. Plan something with friends and family. Just don't say you are too busy...Excuses are easy

Livin it
